The Tennessee Four: History and Bios

The Tennessee Four

In an age where music is digitized, synthesized, and even “idolized” there emerges a group of four guys that offer the world a sound that is strangely normal. With their unique blend of carefully arranged vocal harmonies and family friendly concerts, The Tennessee Four have managed to develop something of a grassroots following that continues to grow with each concert they perform.

The group first performed the National Anthem at a local high school, which then led to performing the National Anthem at a NCAA basketball conference game and at a professional AAA baseball game. The group then began performing their growing repertoire anywhere someone would stop to listen.

This Nashville-based group has a tireless love for all genres of music. Concertgoers are delighted to hear The Tennessee Four belt out their favorite tunes like Roger Miller’s hit King of the Road, Dean Martin’s Everybody Loves Somebody, Huey Lewis’s Naturally or even Java Jive, just to name a few. They seldom walk away from a show without making new fans of all age groups.

The guys are always on the lookout for new songs from the past and present, and you never know what they’ll pull out of their bag of hits. Even when their band isn’t nearby the guys can still break into one of their tunes a capella (without instruments) if given the chance. Fans have noticed their love and appreciation for music and find their vocals enjoyable.

Bios

Rob HatchettRob Hatchett

Rob is the low man in the group. We’re not saying he’s not important, but he’s the group’s all-important bass singer and has been known to take lead on a song or two. Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, Rob’s enthusiastic love for music is only rivaled by his knowledge of music trivia. When he’s not singing with the group you’re likely to find Rob watching anything related to the University of Tennessee or enjoying time with his wife Pam and their daughter, Rachel, who surprisingly attends the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Ford HolmanFord Holman

Ford brings up the high side of the group by taking on the first tenor position and lead. This Nashville native has a unique ability to hear new arrangements of old songs and is responsible for the special blends that the group creates vocally. Baseball is about the only thing that will slow Ford down. Ford is supported by his wife Wanda and his three daughters Amy, Rachel, and Lori, and sons-in-law Jeremy (married to Amy) and Bill (married to Rachel), who often joins the group as one of their rhythm guitar players.

Tim SmithTim Smith

Tim brings up the second tenor and baritone position as well as lead on many songs. Tim came to Nashville from the town of Westmoreland, Tennessee, where he remembers growing up in a house where music was an important part of life. When he’s not singing and managing the business side of the group you’ll likely find him noodling away at a new marketing pitch for clients of Talstone Group, a marketing firm he owns with D.J. Tim is proud husband of Kim and father to Clay and Parker.

DJ SmithD.J. Smith

D.J. fills in where needed but you’ll mostly find him singing lead and tenor for the group. He’s a huge fan of sappy crooner songs but will sing nearly any style of music just so long as he gets to sing. While it is highly believed by some that Tim and D.J. are long lost brothers, to their knowledge they aren’t related. When not singing D.J. enjoys building his marketing firm with Tim and enjoys taking on his dad in a precision shooting match. Born in LaGrange, Georgia, D.J. makes his home in Nashville with his wife Kathy and their sons Matthan and Kealan.
